Auditions for The House of Bernarda Alba

FEBRUARY 12 AND FEBRUARY 13, 6:30-8:30 PM AT INSPIRATION STUDIOS:

The House of Bernarda Alba is Fedenco Garcia Lorca’s last play, written in 1936, the year he was killed at the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War. This play, along with Blood Wedding and Yerma, form a trilogy expressing what Lorca saw as the tragic life of Spanish women.

Repression, sexual tension, gender roles, social class, gossip, death, and religion are prominent themes throughout Lorca’s play.  The play will be directed by Erico Ortiz.

Several roles have already been filled for this all-female cast.  The following roles are still available, with auditions on February 12 and February 13, 6:30-8:30 PM at Inspiration Studios:

1. Magdalena (30 years, Bernarda’s daughter)

2. Amelia (27 years, Bernarda’s daughter)

3. Martirio (24 years, Bernarda’s daughter)

4. Prudencia (50-60 years, Bernarda’s friend)

5. Women Mourners (all ages, several women needed for a scene in Act I)
